The menstrual cycle consists of three different phases namely:
  1. Menstrual phase
  2. Follicular phase
  3. Luteal phase
  • The reproduction cycle of female primates is the menstrual cycle. It starts only after attaining sexual maturation.
  • During ovulation, only one ovum is released.
  • The cyclic changes in the uterus are regulated by the pituitary and ovarian hormones.
