Explain mitosis and meiosis.

Dear Nilesh, mitosis is the type of cell division which occurs in every cell of body except gametes and in this the number of chromosomes remains same. Whereas, in meiosis, which occurs in gametes , that is sperms for male and egg in female, the number of chromosomes are halved.
