Poliovirus usually enters the body through food or water and reaches the nervous system through the blood stream. Its incubation period is 7-14 days. Its produces inflammation of the nervous system. Stiffness of the neck is an important sign. Paralysis starts following the weakness of particular skeletal muscles. The attack of paralysis begins with high fever, headache, chilliness, pain all over the body. There must be provided an adequate arrangement of proper disposal of urine and faeces of the patient, because they contain polio virus. Polio vaccine is safe and effective.
