Explain monsoon and its types.

Monsoon is a seasonal wind that often brings heavy rains. It occurs differently in different states. Some states receive more rainfall in India like Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Tripura and Kerala. While some states like Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir receive less rainfall.

Monsoon actually reverses direction between the seasons of summer and winter.

  • South - West Monsoon: During the months of June-December. Winds blow in the South - West direction
  • North - East Monsson : During the months of November and December. Winds blow in the North - East direction
