Explain ' Newland's law of Octaves.' Why was the law discarded?

According to newland's law of octaves the chemical elements are arranged according to increasing atomic weight, those with similar physical and chemical properties occur after each interval of seven elements.

Limitation of law of octaves:

1. The law was applicable to elements upto calcium only.
2. There is no place for newly divorced elements.
3. Cobalt and Nickel have different propoteies but put in one slot.
4. Iron is a metal but put in non metal
