Dear Student,
A drainage system is the pattern formed by the rivers, streams, and lakes in a particular drainage basin.
Factors on which drainage pattern depends:
1. Climate condition of that area
2.Geology and Topography of that area
3.Slope of that area
Four types of drainage pattern are
1. Dendritic drainage pattern-They form a shape of tree, many tributaries are joined to a main river. They usually develop where the river channel follows the slope of the terrain.
2. Trellis drainage pattern-In this type of pattern small tributaries meet the main river at right angle.
3. Rectangular drainage pattern-They are generally formed on faults or fractured bed rocks. In this pattern streams consist mainly of straight line segments with right angle bends and tributaries join larger streams at right angles.
4. Radial drainage pattern-The streams radiate outwards from a central high points. This pattern is best formed on volcanoes and domes.
