Question

Explain SAS theorem.

Open in App
Solution

SAS stands for SIDE-ANGLE-SIDE.
The SAS theorem states that two triangles are equal if two sides and the angle between those two sides are equal.
The angle between the two sides is also called the included angle.
Let us understand this with an example:
ΔABCΔXYZ
Two sides and the included angle should be congruent.
AC = ZX (side)
ACB=XZY (angle)
CB = ZY (side)
Therefore, by the Side Angle Side postulate, the triangles will be congruent.
