Solution
Sex is determined by genetic inheritance in human beings. Genes inherited from parents determine whether the offspring will be girl or boy. There are two sex chromosomes in human beings X and Y chromosome, the male contributes XY chromosomes and females contribute XY chromosome. If a sperm with X chromosome fertilises with an ovum having X chromosome then it will be a girl. If a sperm carrying Y chromosome fertilises with an ovum having X chromosome then it will be a boy.
