Explain Surender's miserliness.

Surender was wealthy man and three of his barns were full of gold, silver, diamonds and precious stones. Despite being wealthy, Surender was a miser. He loathed spending any of his treasure. In order to save money he bought cheapest and dowdiest clothes for his children. Most of the time his family only ate gruel for meals. All these practices helped miser Surender save his money.
