Explain the action of following reagents on primary, secondary and tertiary nitrolkanes.
(i) bromine in presence of sodium hydroxide

Reaction of nitro alkenes with Br2/NaOH.
Primary nitroalkenes can form the mono as well as dibromo derivatives, but secondary nitro alkenes form only the monobromoderivative.
Tertiary nitro alkenes do not react.
