Drugs that are prescribed to treat infectious diseases mainly target the disease causing pathogen. There are various classes including the drugs which either inhibit the growth of the pathogen inside the body, the drugs which block the entry of the pathogen into the healthy cells or drugs which affect the signalling leading to increased pathogen proliferation.
