Hierarchial classification:
Hierarchical classification is a method of categorizing objects based on a hierarchy, or levels and orders.
Each level of the hierarchy is referred to as a taxonomic category or rank. The kingdom is always listed first in this categorization system, followed by division, class, order, family, genus, and species.
Characteristics that are used in the hierarchical classification of organisms
Whether the organism is unicellular or multicellular.
Whether the cells have a cell wall.
Whether they can prepare their own food, autotrophic or heterotrophic.
Whether they have a notochord.
An amoeba will be very different in its body design from a fish.
