But the climate of the coastal regions is influenced by the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. Hence it experience topical maritime climate.

• The annual rainfall in this region is 958.5 mm, and the temperature ranges from 18° to 43°.

The state's western region enjoys a mountainous climate, which prevails over the Blue Mountains, Anaimalai, and the Kodaikanal hills, in contrast to the east coast's tropical maritime climate.

• These regions have cool, pleasant climates due to their thick forests and high altitudes.
