Composition of atmosphere.

1. The atmosphere is the mixture of gases, dust and water vapour that surrounds the earth's surface. It consists of Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon and other gases.
2. The atmosphere is about 78%Nitrogen 21% Oxygen, 0.9% Argon and 0.1 % and some other gases, Methane and Carbon dioxide are also present in minute quantity.
3. The atmosphere is composed of different layers which are Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Ionosphere and Exosphere. The proportion of gas varies at different altitudes.

• The troposphere is the densest and lowest level of the atmosphere. 75% of the air is found in this layer.
• The stratosphere is the second layer after the troposphere, Aeroplanes tend to fly in the lower level of the stratosphere. Ozone is found in this layer, it protects us by absorbing harmful UV rays from the sun.
• The mesosphere starts just after the stratosphere . The mesosphere is the coldest part of Earth's atmosphere, with temperatures ranging from about -130∘F.
• The exosphere is the highest layer of the atmosphere. The exosphere is composed of particles of hydrogen and helium.
• The ionosphere is not a distinct layer, but it lies above the exosphere., it consists of electrically charged gas particles.
