Question

Explain the concept of rain-man problem in relative velocity.

Open in App
Solution

Rain-man problem

Vrm = Velocity of rain w.r.t man
Vr=Velocity of rain w.r.t ground
Vm= Velocity of man w.r.t ground
Applying the concept of relative velocity,
Vr=Vrm+Vm
i.e., Vr is vector addition of Vrm+Vm
Now, depending on the velocity of the man, Vm and Vrm can change, but the sum of these two vectors will be equal to Vr.
