The conditions that were favourable for decolonisation are :
(a) The Right to self-determination : The principle of 'Right to Self-determination', propounded by Woodrow Wilson in 1918, lent support to the demand for political freedom of the Asian countries. The people in Asia sought freedom from the imperial rule.
(b) Second World War : The soldiers from the colonial countries supported the Allied powers in the Second World War in anticipation of freedom.
(c) Russia-Japan War, 1905 : The defeat of Russia by Japan in 1905 gave confidence to the people in Asia that they can defeat the European nations.
(d) Weakening of the colonial powers : After the Second World War, the colonial, powers had become too weak to retain control over the colonies.
(e) Support of the UN, the USA and the USSR : The, USA, the USSR and the United Nations extended support to the decolonisation process.
