The control of Parliament over the council of Ministers
Solution:
The Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers together form the ‘Executive’ in the Parliamentary system of government.
The executive in our country has double responsibility. Firstly, as an Executive, their main function is to implement laws. And secondly. as they are members of the legislature, they also have to fulfill the responsibilities of the Legislature.
The Executive is dependent upon the confidence of the legislature in them. Meaning that the Council of Ministers remains in power until they enjoy the support or confidence of the legislature. If the legislature feels that the Executive does not work properly, it removes the executive from power by passing a no-confidence motion against the executive.
The no-confidence motion is an effective tool for keeping a check over the executive.
There are multiple ways through which this control can be exercised. It is the responsibility of the Parliament to see that the Council of Ministers does not disregard the Parliament and functions under its supervision.
