Explain the difference between Company Secretary and Secretary of a Co-operative Society.

Secretary is a person who assists the management in achieving the objectives of the organisation . He is entrusted with secrets and confidential matters of his employer. He records data for future reference and decision making . The secretary performs routine functions like managing office work, conducting meetings, coordinating departmental work, maintaining public relations and company image , conducting correspondence etc.
A company secretary is a high level officer of the company having requisite qualifications. He is appointed as per the rules prescribed in the companies act . Company secretary is mainly responsible for looking after secretarial works. He generally maintains liaison with the board of directors, employees, shareholders etc.
The managing committee of every cooperative society generally appoints a secretary to administer the society on their behalf. Any member of the society or any other outsider person can be appointed as the full time secretary of the society on fixed salary. The secretaries of cooperative society or any other outsider can be appointed as the full time secretary of the society on fixed salary. The secretaries of cooperative societies also discharge their duties under the direct supervision of the managing committee.
