Diamagnetic substances are weakly repelled by a magnetic field. they have no unpaired electrons.
Paramagnetic substances are weakly attracted by a magnetic field due to the presence of unpaired electrons.
Ferromagnetic substances are strongly attracted by a magnetic field. When a magnetic field is applied the magnetic domains of that substance align in the same direction of the magnetic field. hence it retains magnetism even after the removal of the magnetic field. ferromagnetic substances are used to make permanent magnets.
