Explain the digestion of food in small intestine.
The food moves through the pyrrolic sphincter from the stomach into the small intestine. The small intestine is divided into three parts- duodenum, Ileum, and Jejunum. Most of the digestion takes place in the Duodenum, which receives digestive juices from the Pancreas and the Bile. Pancreatic juices contain enzymes like Trypsin (an activated form of Trypsinogen) that digests proteins, other protein-digesting enzymes like proteases and peptidases are also present in the pancreatic juice, here, proteins get converted to amino acids.
Amylases, sucrase, and lactase digest complex carbohydrates into monosaccharides. It also contains lipases that convert fats into fatty acids and glycerol, this conversion occurs only when fats react with Bile juice from the Liver, bile juice emulsifies or breaks down large molecules of fats into small fat globules that can be acted upon by Lipase
