Feedbacks mechanisms help regulate biochemical pathways. (a) In negative feedback, the end product accumulates and inhibits the action of the first enzyme thereby slowing the reaction. (b) In positive feedback, the end product stimulates an enzyme in the pathway to increase overall production.
