Explain the following: “If the N pole of a strong magnet is held some distance from the N- pole of a weak magnet , it repels it. But if brought closer, it attracts.”

  1. As we know that like poles of magnet repel each other, that's why N pole of strong magnet repel weak pole of weak magnet from distance.
  2. But It attracts each other after it brought close together, It happens because of the phenomenon of magnetic induction.
  3. According this phenomenon, if any weak magnet is brought near the strong magnet, then strong magnets have tendency to reverse the poles of the weaker magnets.
  4. So, The north pole of the strong magnet induces a weak south pole on the weak magnet. That's why it attracts weak magnet.
