Reference: These words are from Thomas Hardy's poem "The Man he Killed". Context: The poet highlights the cruelties of war. Explanation: The poet killed the other guy in the battle field just because he was a soldier of enemy country. Though both did not have any personal enmity, the poet was complied by duty to kill him.
