Sedimentation:
It is based upon of effect of gravity in the suspension solution.
In suspension, the practices will settle down at the bottom and get separated.
The clear liquid solution is seen on top of the beaker.
Example: The process of sedimentation is used in water treatment plants.
Decantation:
Decantation is the process of separation of liquid from solid and other immiscible (non-mixing) liquids, by removing the liquid layer at the top from the layer of solid or liquid below.
It is generally used in the separation of oil and water.
