Dear student,
Thermoregulation is the ability of the organism to maintain the body temperature within certain limits even though the outside temperature is quite different.
Spiders are ectothermic (cold blooded) i.e they cannot maintain constant body temperature. They alter their body temperature according to the surroundings. They depend on the heat source like sun to warm up their body or shade to cool it. This type of thermoregulation is known as behavioural thermoregulation.
Thus, spiders show behavioural thermoregulation. They come in and out to warm their body in the sun. The studies have also found that spiders sit in the specially prepared webs that provides them shade in hot summers. They also reduce the body temperature by sitting in proper postures with respect to the sun to minimise the surface area facing the sun. In cold winters, they come out in sun to warm their body.
