Explain the formation of first rocks on the Earth.
It is believed that at some stage in the formation of the Earth, it was in a hot and molten state. As it melted, the heavier elements sank and settled towards the centre, forming the core of the Earth.
The lighter substances floated on the surface to form the outermost layer of the Earth called the crust.
As the surface of the Earth cooled, the crust solidified. This formed the first rocks.
