Alluvial soil has been deposited
by flowing rivers.
It generally consists of minute particles
of soil of various kinds mixed with salts and other minerals, and
contains animal and vegetable matters in a state of complete decay. It has
adequate amount of phosphoric acid, potash and lime.
Hence is very extensively used for
agriculture..
It is
found in the areas of northern plains beginning from Punjab to West Bengal and
Assam and also in the deltas of Krishna, Godavari, Cauvery and Mahanadi
in peninsular India.
