Democracy ensures that participation of people to the fullest in Politics and recognize political equality for all irrespective of caste, creed or religion. It is people through which democracy sustains, the government is formed when people elect their representatives to make laws and policies. Each and every citizen is given one vote. Democracy works under rule of law and the basic principle on which rule of law relies is safeguarding the rights of citizens and protect their dignity. Thus popular sovereignty makes democracy a well known and desired system of Governance. The sense of feeling among citizens that they are safe, they are entitled to their basic rights and their freedom and dignity is preserved pave ways for strengthening democracy.
