Limitations of democracy:

a. Though democracy is the most popular form of government for it allows for people's participation and grants civil and political rights to them, there are flaws associated with it.
b.Democracy is all about numbers, it gives more emphasis to the quantity than quality.
c. Then, the Democratic form of government has been questioned on various fronts like it leads to instability, frequent change in the government brings about discontinuity in the policymaking process.
d. it is about competition and power, political leaders to come to power, bring about the polarisation of a society, may create groups and factions in society creating disunity. They also resort to muscle and money power or may exploit social divisions like caste, religion to come to power.
e. Even democracies track record with that of economic development has been questioned, more so because of delays, red-tapism and political instability.
f. It delays the decision-making process as there are a large number of people involved in the decision making process and deliberation., who have to follow cumbersome procedures.
g. Democracy has often been regarded as the tyranny of the majority which overlooks the interest of the minorities.
h. Democracy also encourages nepotism, favouritism at the cost of common people.
i. Most of the people like in India are illiterate who are generally swayed away by political tactics of parties and are unable to make an informed choice.
