Explain the mechanism of hereditary changes.

Heredity is the transfer of characters and genes from one generation to next generation. The variations helps the individuals to evolve, more hereditary changes will lead to more variations and thus strong progeny.

Mechanism:

1) Mating: During mating the fusion of male and female gametes take place

2)Crossing over and recombination of chromosomes will lead to the transfer of characters and variations

3) The 23 chromosomes out of 46, from male and 23 out of 46 from female will form the progeny, hence chance factor plays an important role.
