Explain the mechanism of 'sex determination' in birds. How does it differ from that of human beings?

Sex determination in birds is a little different than man. In birds, the sex determination is by Z and W sex chromosomes. Female birds are heterogametic, that is they contain ZW type of chromosomes. Male birds are homogametic, they contain ZZ type of chromosomes. The W chromosome contains the female determining properties.
