The Parliamentary system was adopted as the model form of Government in India.
Features of parliamentary system of government:
1. The President of the Republic of India is the ceremonial head of state of India and the commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed Forces. He is first citizen of nation. His primary duty is to preserve, protect and defend the constitution and the law of India.
2.In India, the head of government is the Prime Minister who is the real executive, the council of ministers and the ruling government.
3. The party which wins majority seats in the elections of the Lower House forms the government.
4. The council of ministers are collectively responsible to the parliament.
5. No government in the parliament can get hundred percent majority. The opposition plays an important role in checking the arbitrary use of authority by the political executive.
6.There are only one elections that takes place that is to elect the Legislature.
7. Executive emerges from the legislature and is answerable and accountable to the legislature.
