Iron ore is widely distributed across the world. The countries which are the top producers of iron ore in the world are China, Brazil, Australia, India, Russia, Ukraine, USA, South Africa, Canada and Sweden.

India accounts for about 9% of iron ore production. In India, iron ore is found in Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.
