Open in App
Solution

Octet rule is every element react to complete its octet .
Na . has atomic no. = 11
electronic configuration = 2,8 , 1
to complete its octet Na want to donate it's
1 valence electron .
Cl has atomic no.= 17
electronic configuration = 2, 8, 7.
to complete its octet Cl has to gain 1 electron
when Na and Cl react sodium donate its 1 electron and chlorine take it
this way octet of both elements is complete
