Explain the preparation of carboxylic acids from Grignard reagent. Give equation.

Grignard reagent reacts with solid $C O_{2}$ (dry ice) to form magnesium salt of carboxylic acid. This is followed by acidification to obtain carboxylic acid. For example, the reaction between methyl magnesium bromide and carbon dioxide followed by acid hydrolysis will give acetic acid.
