Question

Explain the process by which we can obtain the solids of naphthalene back from its vapour state?

Open in App
Solution

The conversion of gas to solid directly on cooling is known as deposition. The naphthalene vapours formed after the sublimation of naphthalene balls can be converted into naphthalene solids by deposition. While cooling naphthalene vapours, the kinetic energy of particles decreases, and the interparticle attraction increases, thus they enter directly into their solid-state.
