Solution

Dear Student
Corrosion is defined as the destruction of metals due to chemical or electrochemical processes.
Rusting is defined as corrosion of iron.
Process of corrosion(For copper)/Equation of corrosion(For Copper):2Cu + O2 + CO2 +H2O CuCO3.Cu(OH)2 Rusting:Iron loses electrons FeFe2+ + 2e-Electrons produced by this reaction combinw with hydrogen ions in water4e- + 4H+ + O2 2H2OH+ are reacted so left are OH- ions.Fe2+ + 2OH- Fe(OH)2 also4Fe2+ + 4H+ + O2 4Fe3+ + 2H2OFe3+ + 3OH- Fe(OH)3 This compound dehydrates to give Fe2O3Fe2O3 + xH2O Fe2O3.xH2OThis is the chemical formula for rust
