Explain the process of Evaporation

Dear Student,

The phenomenon of conversion of a liquid into its vapours at any temperature below its boiling point is known as evaporation.
For the conversion of liquid water to the gaseous water (water vapour), intermolecular hydrogen bonding must be break so that water molecules gets free and transform into vapour form.
To break the intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the water molecules energy is required and water molecules derived this energy from its surroundings in the form of heat.
