Explain the reaction of Napoleonic code in conquered regions .

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Napoleon introduced the Napoleonic legal code in different parts of Europe that he conquered. The Napoleonic code dealt a grave setback to feudalism. It created the legal basis for a social system based on equality. As a result, the code was opposed by the traditional feudal ruling classes of the conquered regions. The code, however, encouraged the development of feelings of liberalism and modernity in these regions.
