River Krishna originates in Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra and runs across 1392 Kms and drains to the Bay of Bengal. It is the second Largest river in South India regarding the length and the column.

The major tributaries of Krishna are Bhima, Koyna, Tungabhadra, Ghataprabha and Malaprabha.

Krishna river irrigates the districts of Northern Karnataka that contributes to agriculture and also helps in generating electricity
