Role of a genetic counsellor are as follows:
  • They help to obtain a more complete medical history review, identify potential hereditary risks, review testing options, discuss community resources, review disease management.
  • They play an important role in patient care and education.
  • They utilize their specialized training in counselling and medical genetics to provide informative support to patients and families who have been suffered by genetic disorders or who are at higher risk for developing heritable conditions.
