Explain the role of large intestine.

Large intestine:

  1. Large intestine is a long tube about 1.5m long and 6.5cm wide.
  2. Large intestine is made up of three parts namely Caecum, colon and rectum.

Functions of large intestine:

  1. Large intestine absorbs water from the undigested food which is transferred from the small intestine.
  2. After the water absorption, the food will become semi-solid faeces which pass out of the body at regular intervals through anus and this process is called egestion.
