Before industrialization, there were more white-winged months on trees than dark-winged or melanized moths. But after industrialization, it got reversed explanation for this is that predators will spot a month against a contrasting background. During post industrialization period, the tree trunks became dark due to industrial smoke and soots. Due to this site white-winged moth did not survive due to predators, dark winged or melanized month survived.
