Solution:The Constituent Assembly was given the responsibility of the formation of the Indian Constitution.
  • It first met on 9th December 1946 with 389 members which later declined to 299 members because of the Partition of India.
  • Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly.
  • The Constituent assembly set up the Drafting Committee which was given the task of preparing the first draft of the Indian Constitution.
  • It discussed and disposed of 2473 amendments out of a suggested 7635 amendments.
  • The Constitution of India was adopted on 26th November 1949 and came into effect on 26th January 1950.
