Ti plasmid (Tumor-inducing plasmid) refers to the plasmid of Agrobacterium tumefaciens. A.tumefaciens is a plant pathogen and is known to produce tumors in the plant it infects. Role of Ti plasmid in biotechnology is that Ti plasmid can be modified into a cloning vector by removing the genes responsible for pathogenicity.
