  1. The name of the genus always begins with a capital letter.
  2. The species name begins with a small letter.
  3. The scientific names are always italicized.
  4. When handwritten, the genus name and species name have to be underlined.
  5. If the name is revised, the name of the original describer should be written in bracket followed by the name of the revising scientist. E.g. Xanthomonas compestris pv Oryzae Dye
