Electric field lines exert lateral pressure on each other i.e. each electric force line exerts a sideways force on the neighbouringlines.
The figure on the right represents electric field lines of same charges. In this case, the lines of force exert lateral pressure due to which they are pushed away in a manner as shown in the figure.
