Explain the statement of the burden of financing activities of the state to taxes which were paid by the third estate alone

Dear Student

In order to deal with economic crisis, French government imposed more taxes burdening the people.Taxes were imposed to maintain the army, court, universities.
French society was based on strict social stratification, a society based on the system of estates with king at the apex , followed by the nobility and the common people.The society was based on privileges based on birth, where the clergy and the nobility were exempted from paying taxes, thus , it was the third estate who were burdened with huge taxes, creating resentment among the people , paving the way for revolution.
