Autotrophic nutrition in plants occurs by a process known as photosynthesis. It is a process by which plants synthesises food in the form of carbohydrates from carbon-dioxide and water in presence of sunlight and chlorophyll.
Steps involved-
1. Carbon-dioxide is taken by the plants through stomata and water is taken from soil through roots.
2. The green pigment chlorophyll present in the leaves of the plants absorb sunlight.
3. Plants synthesise glucose using carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight.
4. Oxygen and water are released as by-products.
5. The food synthesised is transported to different parts of the plants for utilisation and storage.
