A screw is a simple machine which appears like an inclined plane wound around a rod with pointed tip. Hence, it appears like a nail with grooves on its curved surface. A screw is made by cutting spiral grooves in a metal rod. The spiral grooves are called threads. One end of the screw is made narrow and pointed called the tip of the screw. Other end is made flat called the head of the screw. In simple words, a screw is a modified inclined plane.
